Our Passion is Polishing At Avenue Car Sales we believe presentation is everything, we want our customers to leave with the absolute best, we strive to achieve this by many methods of polishing. This page will talk you through our different methods of preparing paint work to achieve a hi gloss scratch free finish that comes as standard on all our prestige and performance cars we sell.
Paint Preparation Putting a coat of expensive wax on your paint work won't give any kind of glossy finish, all you will do is protect all the paint defects in your paint work. The first stage we use to gaining a high gloss is to chemically clean all the paint work and remove all contaminants, tree sap and fall out from the atmosphere, these chemicals are all natural products, there are no harsh acids! we then continue to remove the paint of tar, this gives the paint a smooth dirt free surface ready and prepared for its polishing stages.
First Stage of Polishing The use of this system all depends on the condition of the paint once it has been decontaminated, we inspect each panel of the car separately, we look for small hairline scratches, haze marks and marring, theses marks are normally due to the age of the vehicle but mostly cars taken to hand car washes and vehicles washed with brushes are most prone. Once we have inspected the paint work, we decide what cutting compound to use and which application pad to use (course, medium, finishing) sometimes we use all three application pads to work to a finish that we are happy with.
Second Stage of Polishing This stage of polishing uses a polish compound rather than a cutting compound, this polishes the surface to a gloss now all the haze marks and scratches have been removed with the first stage, this is where the finish comes from, this stage increases the reflection of the paint increasing gloss and "flake pop" in the case of metallic and pearlescent paints. Now the paint is ready to be protected!
Wax Now the paint has been chemically cleaned, polished to remove any defects and then polished to a gloss it's time to protect all the hard work that's been put in. Wax doesn't just make paint shine it also protects, there are many types of wax from natural Carnauba wax to manmade polymer waxes, all of which have their own uses and best applications, we are big believers in natural products and we mostly use Swissvax wax (Google it) it's one of the world best and costs £££££ a pot, this wax can last up to 6 months if the car is cared for correctly once applied. As earlier mentioned, this system is performed on all our sports and prestige cars before you see them, the system takes up to 2 days in some cases. We believe this shows that little extra that we like to add to our service to you.
